Days of Atonement (In Nine Parts) Opening Credits

The opening credits sequence for the feature length film, "Days Of Atonement (In Nine Parts)". I worked closely with director Shalom Gorewitz to create the final gritty look of the sequence. All of the artwork and frame by frame animation was created in Photoshop, and then the shots were composed in After Effects to give the shots a sense of depth.

Animatic

The director gave me free range on this project. After giving me a general concept, I storyboarded this out, and roughly edited the animatic in After Effects to quickly convey to the director what I had in mind.

Also, at this point the title and cast credits had not been finalized, so the text is all wrong or missing in the animatic.

The camera moves through the scene, making it feel 3D. But, in reality it's all really just an illusion, and as soon as the camera is moved the illusion is broken.

I wanted the character animation to feel anatomically accurate, so I filmed a lot of reference footage of myself.

The setting is a stylized interpretation of Google Maps photographs. It is based on the prison that the lead actor was held in for fifty years.
