Roshambo - The Regal (Official Lyric Video)

I created this lyric video for Roshambo, a New Jersey based rock band, in less than two weeks to be released alongside the Spotify release of their new single.

Every asset seen in the animation was an original creation for this video, with the exception of a dust effect, which is from productioncrate.com. Artwork was drawn in Photoshop and brought into After Effects to be composited into the final product. The live action cinematography was filmed on my Canon 7D camera, and was color corrected and composited in After Effects.

Assets of the band members were drawn in Photoshop. I limited myself to only using black, white and red to create most of the illustrations, which made creating the band members a particularly interesting challenge.

All assets were created in Photoshop. The video has a very rough and textured look, which was partially created through video overlays. However, some of those textures were painted right onto the assets, like the gravestones.

So, this is just a quick fist pumping animation I made to fill any crowds throughout the video. You can see it in the song's intro, and during the pre chorus. It's super simple, and its literally only 3 frames, but it got the job done.

Almost every shot in this video makes use of the 3D camera in After Effects. I created a variety of textural layers, and play around with the opacity. I also play around with scale a lot, and in the end, once you move the camera the shot doesn't work.

Another example of the 3D camera. To simulate a massive crowd, I created 2D compositions with a bunch of fist pumpers grouped together. What's left is just a bunch of 2D rows that the camera dollies through.
